Course description
Do your LinkedIn posts start with “Happy to share”? Then you’re losing your audience before they even click. Most readers scroll past because they don’t know why your work matters to them.
In this workshop you’ll learn how to fix that. We’ll show you how to apply the basics of science communication to your social media posts, so you can grab attention, spark conversations, and reach the people who matter for your research.
You’ll discover how to:
- Stop writing ego-focused posts and write for your audience instead
- Go beyond paper announcements with dozens of post types that keep people engaged
- Turn one study into multiple posts, each highlighting different insights for different audiences
- Write titles that draw people in without falling into clickbait
- Share your research in ways that journalists, policymakers, and peers actually remember
You’ll leave with practical tips, real examples, and strategies you can use right away to make your research visible, engaging, and impactful.
The workshop takes place on Tuesday 18 November, 2025, and has two parts:
- 09.00-10.30 General workshop with tips and tricks, open to all researchers associated to VLAG graduate school (with a focus on PhD candidates, Postdocs and other early career researchers)
- 10.30-12.00 Extension with exercises and personal feedback, for a limited number of participants
If you're subscribing to the extension, don't forget to also subscribe for the general workshop.
Participating in the workshop is free of charge. However, a no-show fee applies in accordance to the VLAG cancellation conditions.
